Personal Notes:
The Tumut and Adelong Times 1 Mar 1938
OBITUARY MRS. MARGARET CONNORS The death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O'Neill, 34 Kinsland Road, Bexley, on Saturday last, of Mrs. Margaret Connors, relict of the late James Connors, of Tumut, in her 68th year, heart trouble being the cause of her demise. Deceased had been ailing for the past six months and had been attended by Dr. Harbison in Tumut. She was an inmate of the Tumut District Hospital for some time before Xmas, but left the institution at the festive time to be with her family at home. Some seven weeks ago her son, Archie, took her to Sydney, where the constant attention of Dr. Colin Laverty, and the advice of a specialist was of no avail. A wire was received in Tumut on Thursday that she had taken a had turn, so son Dick went away by that day's train to be with her, and a further wire was received on Saturday morning that she was in a precarious condition. Mrs. Connors passed away that evening, and the other members of the family left for Sydney on Sunday. Deceased was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. Mulvihill, Tumut, and 44 years ago was married to Mr. James Connors, who predeceased her by 15 years. She was a great one for home life, her span being mainly centered for the benefit of her husband and her family. In her time Mrs. Connors was also a great church worker and had the respect and esteem of all those with whom she came in contact. Four sons and two daughters are left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother, viz: Maurice (Bob), Thomas, Bede (Dick) of Tumut, Archie of Bexley, Connie (Mrs. O'Connor of Bexley) and Joan (Mrs. O'Neill, of Bexley). Two brothers and sisters surviving are Michael and Thomas Mulvihill (Tumut), Daniel (Albury), Ellen (Mrs. Lees, of Randwick), Mary (Mrs. Danvers of Roseville), Johanna (Darlinghurst). One brother (Jack) and one sister, Katherine (Mrs. Fewin), are deceased. Father Everard, of Rockdale, con ducted the obsequies in Sydney before the coffined remains were en trained to Tumut, where the funeral took place yesterday afternoon. A life-long friend of Mrs. Connors, in the person of Miss K. Madden, of Sydney and an erstwhile Tumut resident, came to Tumut to especially be present at the funeral. The pall-bearers were Messrs Maurice, Thomas and Bede Connors (sons), Thomas and Daniel Mulvihill (brothers), and Thos. Mulvihill (nephew). Rev. Fr. McPhillips officiated at the graveside, and Mr. H. W. Baker carried out the mortuary arrangements. The following is a list of the wreaths sent:— Mrs. Symons and Paddy, Mrs. Barrows and Miss Bourke, Ted and Phyllis, Mrs. M.
