Death of Miss M. McNamara.
It becomes our sad duty to record the death, at the age of 49 years, of Miss Mary McNamara, at the residence of her brother Ald. Hugh McNamara (Mayor), the Wynyard Hotel. Some time since the deceased lady underwent an operation successfully in Sydney, but the removal of one trouble seemed to lead to others, and a complication of internal complaints was the cause of her death, after about 2 months' suffering. Dr. Mason gave her case every attention and all that loving hands could do was done ; but the insatiable Reaper claimed his own at 2.20 a.m. on Friday last, and thereby passed away a citizen whose absence will long be missed at Lacmalac, where she spent the happiest years of her life.
Her father predeceased her many years and her mother died in 1897. She leaves behind her six brothers, (MessrsJohn, Thomas, James, Michael, Hugh and George) and one sister (Miss Annie McNamara) to mourn her loss.
The funeral, which took place on Saturday last, was the largest we have seen for years, there being no less than 70 vehicles and 50 horsemen in the cortege. Her remains were interred in the Roman Catholic portion of the old cemetery. The Right Rev. Bishop Gallagher, of Goulburn, assisted by Rev. Father Cahill, P.P., officiated at the grave. Mr. W. Himsworth faithfully carried out the duties of undertaker. We tender the bereaved ones our deepest condolence.
