McLACHLAN–LANG.–On the 21st March, at the resi
dence of the bride's mother, Rickards Point, Sand-
ringham, Allan, second son of Ronald McLachlan,
to Annie Mason, second daughter of the late Mat
thew Lang.

The Australasian (Melbourne) 23 March 1895
McLACHLAN—LANG.
The marriage of Mr. Allan Ronald
McLachlan, second son of Mr. Ronald
McLachlan, of Iona, Kensington-road, South
Yarra, with Miss Annie Lang, second
daughter of the late Mr. Matthew Lang (thrice
mayor of Melbourne) and Mrs. Lang, took
place at the residence of the bride's mother,
Rickards Point, Sandringham, on Thursday
afternoon, March 21, at. half-past. 2,' the
Rev. Dr. Strong officiating. The ceremony
took place in the large reception room, which
had been beautifully decorated with palms
and white flowers by friends of the bride.
Mr. Alick Lang gave his sister away.
She looked very pretty in a gown of rich
white Batin duchesse, with trimmings of
beautiful duchesse lace, wreath of orange
blossom and a tulle veil. She carried a
bouquet of choice white flowers. The two
bridesmaids, the Misses Jeannie and Berta
Lang (the bride's sisters) were in white
Indian linen dresses, trimmed with torchorr
lace, black bats trimmed with black feathers,
and carried bouquets of pink roses. Mr.
Herbert Grant, cousin of the bridegroom,
acted as best man.
The wedding being a quiet one, the guests
were limited to relations and near friends,
who were entertained by the bride's mother
at a wedding tea after the ceremony. The
handsome Wedding cake was the work of the
Misses Robertson. The bride went away in
a tailor-made suit of navy-blue broadcloth
and a fancy waistcoat ; very smart toque hat
trimmed with red roses. The bride received
many handsome presents from hosts of
friends, amongst whom she is very
popular.

DEATH OF AN OLD
COLONIST.
One of Victoria's oldest settlers Mr.
Ronald McLachlan, died at his residence,
Iona, Kensington-road, South Yarra, on
Thursday evening, after a few days' illness.
Few men have seen nearly 60 years of the
development of what was practically a vir-
gin country, but Mr. McLachlan was one,
and he felt great pride in his experiences,
and the part he had played in pioneering.
He was born in Stirling about 77 years ago,
his father being captain of the 75th Stirling-
shire Highlanders, now known as the Gor-
don Highlanders. With his father and
other members of the family, Mr. McLachlan
left Stirling for Australia in April, 1839.
They were passengers in the Ariadne, and
called at the Cape, where Captain McLach-
lan found his old regiment quartered. The
Ariadne landed passengers and cargo at
Adelaide, and arrived in Port Phillip in
October. In 1843 Mr. McLachlan joined
the late Mr. J. M. Darlot, and went with
him to what was known as the Devil's
River country, whence Mr. McLachlan took
sheep, cattle, and horses to the Wimmera.
He "took up" the North and South Brighton
Stations, near the site of Horsham, and sub-
sequently bought the Rich Avon Station, on
the Richardson River, which he sold to the
present occupier, Mr. Thomas Guthrie, of
Geelong. Mr. McLachlan was appointed a
territorial magistrate in 1854.
