DROPPED DEAD WHILST AT WORK
WELL-KNOWN WEATHERBOARD
FARMER.
LEARMONTH Thursday.
Mr Bernard Curran, a well-known
farmer of Weatherboard, died sudden
ly yesterday afternoon. He was walk
ing behind a drill, which his son, Mr
John Curran, was driving, when he
collapsed and died immediately. Death
was supposed to be due to heart fail
ure. The deceased was a very old re
sident of the district, and was highly
respected. He was a prominent mem
ber of the Roman Catholic Church.
He leaves two sons and two daughters.
A third daughter, Mrs Connelly, died
some time ago.

Mr Curran was 71 years of age, and
was a colonist of over 50 years. He
was farming at Yendon for some
years and was married in Ballarat in
1865. He had been a resident of
Weatherboard for about 20 years, and
was esteemed for his unassuming dis
position and his upright principles.

CURRAN.—On the 30th May, at her resi-
dence, Weatherboard Hill, Bridget, relict
of the late Bernard Curran, and loving
mother of Cecelia (Mrs Connelly, decease-
ed), Thomas, Annie (Mrs Joseph Brio-
dy) John and Catherine; aged 84 years.

OBITUARY.
Curran. —The funeral of the late Mrs
Bridget Curran, widow of the late Mr
Bernard Curran of Weatherboard Hihh,
took place yesterday to the Learmonth
Cemetery. The deceased lady, who
had reached the grand old age of Si
years, was very well known and highly
respected, and her death will be deeply
deplored by the numerous friends with
whom she came in contact. .The mas
sive polished oak casket was borne by
Messrs J. Briody (son-in-law of the de
ceased), Thomas and John Curran
(Sons), Thomas Connellan and George
Clark (nephews), and Wm. Gallagher;
and the pall-bearers wore -Messrs J.
and B. Briody, Wm., Patrick. John,
and Thomas Curran (grandsons)
