ACCIDENTS AND OFFENCES
SUICIDE AT HOME HILL.
Home Hill, December 9.
Henry Ellis, aged about 27, and for
many years engaged as a fitter with
Smellie & Co., Ayr, but recently in
the employ of Harold Braby, car pro-
prietor at Ayr, committed suicide last
evening by blowing out his brains.
Ellis at the time of the tragedy was
engaged driving his fiancee and his
sister to the railway station to catch
the train for Home Hill, where both
ladies reside. It was about 9 p.m.,
and when the car was in the vicinity
of Honeycombe's Cash Store, situat-
ed about midway between Main-street
and the railway station, the deceased
stopped the car, and, saying to the
lady, occupants, "I am tired of life,"
drew a revolver, and, placing it
against his head, pulled the trigger.
Death was almost instantaneous. It
was stated that for some time Ellis
had a premonition that he was suf-
fering from an internal complaint,
but he had not sought medical advice
for his feared malady.
