F. A. POCKLEY Dr. Francis Antill Pockley has died at his home in Wahroonga, aged 84. He was on the honorary medical staff of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for 35 years, and also on the staff of the Royal North Shore Hospital. He was president of the Australian Medical Conference in 1911, a past president of the New South Wales branch of the British Medical Association and of the Ophthalmological Society of New South Wales, and a regular contributor to medical and ophthalmic journals. Dr. Pockley, after graduation, was in Vienna when Kohler discovered the anaesthetic properties of cocaine, and it is believed that he did the first eye operation in Australia under the cocaine anaesthetic. A service was held yesterday in St. Thomas' Church, North Sydney, where Dr. Pockley was christened, confirmed, and married. The funeral was at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium.
