Note 6: Goulburn Evening Penny Post 21 nov 1929 MRS. THOMAS HODGE Mrs. Thomas Hodge, an old and re- spected resident of Goulburn, died at the age of 79 years. She was born at Goulburn and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Savill, of Mummell, who were pioneer settlers of the district. She is survived by two sons, Messrs. Thomas Hodge, of Nyngan, and John Hodge, of Nyngan, and one daughter, Mrs. Smith, of Narromine. The burial took place in the Church of England portion of the general cemetery. Note 7: Western Age (Dubbo) 9 Mar 1932 Mr. Thomas Hodge, senr., who has been in failing health, on account of great age, for some time, died in the Wellington Hospital last week. The deceased belonged to the Salvation Army when there was a branch in Nyngan, and since then has been a familiar figure in the streets wearing the Army uniform, and accompanying his singing with his beating of the drum. He, with his family, came from the Goulburn district and has liv- ed around Nyngan for many years. Two sons (John and Thomas) live near Nyngan, the later owning Milly- dale, Miandetta. Mr. Hodge, senr., has spent the latter months at Milly- vale. His age was 87 years. The burial took place at Wellington ac- cording to the Salvation Army rites.
