MRS. THOMAS MOORE.
Mary Alice Moore (50), wife of Mr.
Thomas Moore, of Murwillumbah,
died in hospital at Murwillumbah on
Saturday morning after a short ill
ness. Mrs. Moore was born at
Woodburn and was a daughter of
Mrs. W. Thurgate and the late Wil
liam Thurgate, of Broadwater. She
spent her early life on the Lower
Richmond and moved to the Tweed
River with her husband about 20
years ago, since when Mr. Moore has
been in charge of the school at Dun
gay. Deceased had always been in
terested in Presbyterian Church work,
particularly among the younger
people. In addition to the widower
and mother, deceased is survived by
three brothers and two sisters. Broth
ers are W. Thurgate (Lismore), J.
Thurgate (Broadwater), and O.
Thurgate (Dungarubba), and Mrs. H.
West (Ballina) and Miss K. Thurgate
(Broadwater) are the sisters.
The remains were conveyed to Li»
more on Saturday night and th»
funeral moved from St. Paul's Pres
byterian Church yesterday afternoon
and the burial was made in the Lis
more cemetery. The service in tho
church was conducted by the Rev.
T. McDougall, assisted by the Rev.
H. Robinson, of Murwillumbah. Mr.
Robinson in his address In th«
church referred to the life and ex
ample of Mrs. Moore, stressing her
devotion to her home and church.
There. was a large attendance at the
service. Mr. H. Burgess presided at
the organ. At the graveside Mr. Mc
Dougall and Mr. Robinson conducted
the service and pall bearers wer«
W., J. and C. Thurgate (brothers),
H. West (brother-in-law), J. Church
ward and W. Silkirk. The funeral
arrangement were carried out by
Messrs. W. Riley and Son and A. H*
Hayes (Murwillumbah),
