On 12 Oct 1830 Phoebe applied for permission to marry Joseph Griffith of Waterloo, who was also assigned to Mr. Perry. Nothing came of this application for on 12 Oct 1831 a son was born to Phebe [sic] Stirrup alias Elizabeth Harrison and baptised in March of that year at St Philips, Sydney. It is not known whether Griffith fathered the child.

The father of her 1st child "Covenant Charles Stirrup" is unknown however her marriage permission to Joseph Griffith was not refused but "cancelled". There is a letter dated 19th Oct 1830 ... which has the reason. Griffith was also assigned to Perry at Birchgrove.
