Mackay Fatality
MACKAY, Friday— Thomas James Herrigan, 25, farmer, of Glenalla, was fatally injured when a car crashed beside Farleigh Road this morning following the bursting of a tyre. Herrigan, his three brothers, and two others were coming into Mackay, when engine trouble was experienced. Thomas Herrigan decided to walk home, but the engine trouble was remedied, and the others drove to pick him up. He was standing on the running board, with the car in motion, when the tyre burst, throwing him to the ground and inflicting head injuries.
The car turned a somersault, but no one else was injured.

Supergrover - The children of this family were put into an orphange in Qld. During that time their surname spelling was changed to Herrigan, not Herrigen as recorded on William's birth certificate. However, the name was orginally Harrigan and spelling was not a top priority in those times of immigration and movement.
