- Notes: Two other surveyors in the district in this early period were the brothers Constantine Francis and Alexander Thorley Bolton. They were both born in the Hunter River district where their father, the Reverend Robert Thorley Bolton, was an Anglican clergyman. The Bolton family background was interesting. The family was an old Yorkshire one, but Robert Thorley Bolton was born in 1803 at Narva, Russia, where they had been for two or three generations.
After taking his M.A. degree at Clare College, Cambridge, he migrated to Australia where the various members of his family were born.
