Oct 2 , 1924-"Monaro Mercury" records death of Thomas Wroe aged 77. buried at Boloco, Rev. E.Elwin officiating. He lived 31 years at Dalgety as Post Master. Born in Salford, England in 1847. He sailed for Sydney in 1856, thence boat to Eden and per bullock team to Bombala, where he resided for 15 years. Married there to Hanna (sic) Wheatley, by whom he had two sons, John and George of Jimenbuen. Left a widower, he married after a few years Sarah Ann Callaghan, and by her leaves James, and Mrs. Freebody of Dalgety, Robert of Auburn, Arthur of Thirlmere, Henry of N.Z. Sidney of Illabo, and Herbert of Griffith, 43 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren . (Dalgety P.O. then on the hill up towards the Police Station.)
