- Notes: William Shelley came to Tumut in 1838 and joined his brother George at Bombowlee. They were in partnership and soon afterwards they bought Tumut Plains from James Hannibal Rose.

George managed Tumut Plains and William managed Bombowlee. William and his wife spent more time in Goulburn than in the Tumut district. When William died at Goulburn in 1844, the Tumut Plains property then became the sole property of George Shelley and Bombowlee entered into the hands of Mrs. Susannah Shelley, the widow of William Shelley. For years she managed the property very successfully. Besides Bombowlee she had large areas on the Murray River where she ran 1,500 head of cattle and 8,000 sheep.

Mrs. Shelley's granddaughter Hilda Jessie Shelley, who was born at Blowering in 1882, was killed in the Exeter (NSW Southern Highlands) Railway accident 13th March 1914.
