Note 2: Ancestry - Curtis Family Tree 'Sydney Morning Herald' - 12 July 1915 SERGEANT HOWARTH. Sergeant John Falkiner S. Howarth, killed in action, was the eldest son of Mr. John Howarth, Fern-street, Randwlck, and was a native of Victoria, 39 years of age. He was a member of the Victorian Garrison for 10 years, and removed to New South Wales In 1899 shortly after enlisting for the South African Contingent 1st A.M.C. Corps, under Surgeon General Williams. On his return he was engaged in the railway service and attached to the Randwick tram works. In 1903 he was selected by the. O.C. Commanding the New South Wales Garrison Artillery as one of the representatives for the late King Edward's Coronation ceremonies. He has left a widow and six children. His eldest son belongs to the Commonwealth Navy, and at present is attached to H.M.S. Psyche.
