WILLIAM JENKS. A well known figure at St. John's Cathedral, recently temporarily absent it was hoped, will return no more. Mr. William Jenks, who for the past 11 years has filled the office of verger to the cathedral, succumbed last evening to an attack of typhoid fever, at the early age of 34 years. He will be remembered by the worshippers at St. John's for his genial manner, modest bearing, and the faithful discharge of his duties, by which he had endeared himself to a wide circle of friends. He was a native of York, England.

The death of Mrs. Rosena Jane Birch occurred at her son's residence at Biloela on Sunday last. Deceased was an old and highly respected resident of the Kingaroy district. Born in England, she arrived in Brisbane at an early age, later marrying Mr William Jenks. A few years later she became a widow, and afterwards marred Mr. Fred. Birch, one of the pioneers of the Kingaroy district. She had four sons, the eldest, Harry, being killed at the war, and another was wounded. The remaining three are Allen and John, of Kingaroy, and Phillip, of Biloela
