Personal Notes:
Michael McInerney was born in County Clare, Ireland in 1844 and came to Tumut about 1860 with his Sister Mrs. Mlchael Bourke when he was sixteen.

His first employment was on the George Shelley Estate at Tumut Plains. He worked hard, saved money and soon bought a team of horses and commenced in the carrying business to Sydney, Wagga Wagga, and Lambing Flat. He purchased a farm on Tumut Plains comprising 80 acres. Then he bought "Elderfield" from Richard Sturt and by making other purchases he soon acquired excellent farming properties.

Michael McInerney married Bridget, the only daughter of Edward Malone. Michael McInerney died on 17 April 1916 aged 72 years. The children of Michael & Bridget McInerney were;
