Son of George and Jane ∼ Sydney Stock and Station Journal (NSW : 1896 - 1924), Friday 31 October 1902, page 6 News was brought to town on Thursday last that Napoleon Bonaparte Johnson, of Jones' Bridge, Tumut Plains, six miles from here, had committed suicide, while in a temporary fit of insanity. On July 21 last deceased attacked his own life by first cutting his throat and then throwing himself into the river, but was unsuccessful, and eventually was restored to himself again. It was feared by the family ever since that the same thing would again be attempted at the least little mental worry, and everything was done to keep him free from same: but he left the cornfield on Friday morning, where he was lightly engaged in chipping, and cut his throat in the kitchen. Deceased leaves a widow and eleven children, and was fifty years of age. He came to Australia when an infant, and has been engaged in farming operations at Tumut Plains about twenty years. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/121563625 |
