The same evening Mr and Mrs E. H. Lindbeck, of Adelong and formerly of Yellowin, were cabled that their son, Pte. Frederiok Thomas Lindbeck, had died in hospital in Palestine from blood poisoning. A few months ago, after nine months of solid fighting in Palestine, Pte. Lindbeck contracted malaria fever. He was sent to hos- pital, where he remained for three weeks, thence to a convalescent home. On his discharge from the latter, he was put amongst the horses at the rear of the lines, and was gradually getting strong again, when he suddenly broke out in sores, and blood poisoning supervened, evantually causing death. He went into hospital on the Saturday and suc cumbed on the following Wednesday. Pte. Lindbeok was 27 years of age. He enlisted in January, 1917, went into camp in February and shortly afterwards sailed for Egypt. Pte. Lindbeck wsa a quiet, unobtrusive, but sturdy, determined young man, and had many friends in the district where he was born. |
