OBITUARY MRS. VIOLET M. DEAN
After several weeks of intense suffering, death came as a happy release to Mrs. Violet Mary Dean, wife of Mr. Wal. Dean, of Simpson-Street, Tumut, at 9 a.m. on Saturday last. The late Mrs. Dean had been in ill-health for the past four years and the complaint from which she suffered gradually grew worse, especially during the past two months.
She was confined to her bed for ten days prior to her demise, during which she suffered greatly despite skilful medical attention. She was not in hospital as previously reported. The late Mrs. Dean was born at Gocup 57 years ago, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clee who had a farm in that locality. Thirty-six years ago she married
Mr. Walter Dean, of Tumut. They first resided at Tumut Plains, where Mr. Dean had a farm, then at 'Springfield' and later at Bombowlee, finally moving to Tumut when Mr. Dean joined the outdoor staff of the Tumut Shire Council. The late Mrs. Dean was essentially a home-loving woman, but she liberally assisted with every charitable cause. In addition to the members of her family who cared for her during her illness were Nurse Symons, Mrs. Tozer, Mrs. J. Brown and Mrs. P. Clee. Besides the sorrowing husband a family of three survive, viz. : Harold (Queensland border), Gwen (Mrs.Dick Kell, Lacmalac) and Stella (Mrs. J. Farnell, Tumut). Sisters and brothers also surviving are Josie (Mrs. A. E. Back, Tumut), Gertie (Mrs. Dale, Fairfield), Annie (Mrs. Millard, Marrickville), Messrs. Harry (Tumut), Thomas (Forbes), William (Mt. Victoria). Percy (Tumut) and Norman Clee (Batlow). The funeral took place on Saturday last, leaving from the Presbyterian Church, Tumut, at 1.30 p.m. after a service conducted by Rev. R. S. Woodger for the Presbyterian portion of the Tumut New Cemetery. Rev. Woodger officiated at the graveside and W. W. Beavan & Son
had charge of the mortuary arrangements. The pall-bearers were Messrs. William, Percy, Thomas and Norman Clee (brothers), J. Farnell and Dick Kell (sons-in-law).
