OBITUARY.
Wide-spread sorrow was much in evidonce when the news of the death of Mrs. Stanley Webb, was circulated, amongst our litte community on Saturday evening last. The deceased was the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Maurice French of "Glenburnie," Upper Brungle, and her kind and lovable disposition had won for her the respect, and the esteem, not only of her very large circle of relatives, but also of all those outside that circle who had the privilege of her acquaintance. Death is at all times the great disturbing element in human nature; it seems doubly so when the "Grim Reaper," lays his hand on the young people who appear to have every prospect of a long and happy life confronting them. For the bereaved ones it is good to realise that amid the shadows of life, which must and do fall upon us, God is keeping watch over his own. The still small voice which we may have failed to hear in our hours of buoyancy comes to us clearly enough when we are withdrawn from the world's loud clamour, and to many the hour of bereavement has meant a new consecration of their lives, a deeper realization of God's truth, a time of revelation,
"Like those of old on that thice hallowed night
Who sat and watched in heavenly raiment bright,
And with inspiring joy, not fear Say; pointing Upward ;
"He is not here He is risen."
The heartfelt sympathy of the whole community is with the bereaved ones in their sad affliction, and the earnest wish of the writer is that they may not sorrow as those without hope,
There is no flock however watched and tendered But one dead lamb is there,
There is no fireside howe'er defended But has one vacant chair.
There is no death, what seems so is transition;
This life of mortal breath
Is but a suburb of the life Elysian Whose portals we call death.
We will be patient, and assuage the feeling,
We may not wholly stay By silence sanifying, not concealing
The grief that must have way.
