Personal Notes:
MRS. CATHERINE SPEIRS
The funeral of Mrs. Catherine Speirs who died last Monday, aged 84 years, took place at West Wyalong on Tuesday. A short service was conducted in the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. M. A. M'Alpine, of that charge, assisted by the Rev. H. S. Michie, of Grenfell, and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Mrs. Speirs was the wife of the late Joseph Speirs, of West Wyalong and formerly of Adelong, and was born at Fife, Scotland.

The interment took place in the family ground of the Presbyterian portion of the Wyalong cemetery, the carriers being her five sons and son-in-law. The casket was heavily laden with floral tributes sent by her many relatives and friends, tokens of the high esteem in which she was held. She was ever a staunch supporter of all worthy charitable objects and particularly of the Presbyterian Church, of which she was one of the oldest foundation members.

She is survived by her five sons; Joseph, of Optic House, Wagga; Robert, of Craigendoran, Temora; Wally, of Temora, George W. of Griffith; Andrew Campbell, of Grenfell and her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Leadbitter, of West Wyalong; also her sister, Mrs. Bell, of Dulwich Hill, her brothers, Thomas Hamilton, of Sawtell (North Coast); James Hamilton, of Barmedman; and Robert Hamilton, of Rose Vale, Illabo; besides many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her five sons are the well-known optometrists and jewellers throughout Riverina. The late Mrs Speirs enjoyed good health practically all her life, her only serious illness being one of a few weeks' duration only, when she passed peacefully away respected and beloved by all who knew her.
