SUCCESSFUL OPERATION. 24/12/1902
Mrs. Brabin, wife of our old and much respected friend, Mr. Thomas Brabin, of Kurragong Farm Eurongilly, who has been invalid for some considerable time, underwent a critical and serious operation, which we are glad to say was altogether successful, in the Sydney Hospital on Friday last, the operator being that eminent surgeon, Dr.Fiaschi, who was assisted by Dr. Steer Bowker.

The patient, who possesses a naturally robust constitution, stood the trying ordeal excellently, and exhibited both before and after the operation the greatest fortitude, a circumstance which much contributed to the gratifying result. Although, as was to be expected, immediately following the operation Mrs. Brabin was much depressed, she soon rallied, and on Sunday afternoon had made such progress as to indicate that she was rapidly approaching convalescence.

The wide circle of friends of the Brabin and Hamilton families in these districts will rejoice to hear the good news which, on the authority of our Sydney correspondent, who personally visited the hospital, we are enabled to make today. The past week, as may well be imagined, was one of the utmost anxiety and care to the husband and immediate relatives of the sufferer for of all mental conditions that of suspense is the most difficult to endure. In offering them our sincere sympathy and heartfelt congratulations, we are sure we but voice the sentiment and feeling of the whole community.

Mrs. Thomas Brabin, of Eurongilly, an old resident of the district, died yesterday, the 14th July 1903 after a long and painful illness.

Mrs. Margaret Brabin, wife of Mr. Thomas Brabin (and daughter of Matthew and Margaret Hamilton), of Eurongilly, passed away on Tuesday afternoon. The cause of death was an internal cancer, the ravages of which not the best medical treatment in Sydney could stay.

The deceased lady, who was 47 years of age at her demise, was related to several well-known families about Mitta, Illabo, and Eurongilly. The interment took place at the Junee Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon and was largely attended.
