The Tumut and Adelong Times 1 Oct 1946
OBITUARY MRS. MARY HILL The death occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. Lawson, Lock hart-Street, Adelong, on 26th September of Mrs. Mary Hill, wife of the late J. T. Hill, at the age of 88 years, after a short illness. Up to the time of her illness deceased always enjoyed the best of health and took a keen interest in life. She was a devout supporter of her church and was a foundation member of the Red Cross Society in Adalong. She leaves a family of three daughters and two sons, viz.: Elsie (Mrs. F. Smith, Sydney), Percy (Adelong), Horace (Temora), Myra (Mrs. C. Grady (Temora) and Eileen (Mrs. J. Lawson, Adelong). There are also 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, all of whom mourn the loss of a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. One daughter, Hessie (Mrs. H. Bye) predeceased her. After a short service at the residence the funeral moved to the Church of England portion of the Adelong Cemetery, where the service was conducted by Rev Dr. Alexander. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Cliff. Hill, Ken. Grady and Allan Bye (grandsons) and Harold Taylor (nephew). The funeral arrangements were conducted by Boston Bros. The casket was covered by many beautiful floral tributes.
