This altar-type gravestone once marked the Reibey family vault in the George Street Cemetery, and later the Devonshire Street Cemetery. It was relocated to Bunnerong Cemetery, La Perouse (now Pioneer Park) when the Devonshire Street Cemetery was redeveloped into Central Railway Station after 1901.

Devonshire st cemetery was located were Central station now stands. Remains were recovered and sent to Rookwood when the cemetery closed.

The Old Burial Ground (now occupied by the Sydney Town Hall) was used between September 1792 and 1820, when it officially closed. Its replacement was the Sandhills Cemetery (Devonshire Street Cemetery), which later became the site of Central Railway Station. By the 1840s there were concerns about overcrowding and over the next twenty years a number of alternative locations were considered. In 1862 the government purchased 200 acres of land 'near Homebush on the Railway Line…' — what was to become the Rookwood Necropolis — for use as a general cemetery. The first registered burial took place at the Rookwood Necropolis in 1867 [2].

At the residence of her mother in George-street, Sydney, after an indisposition of some few months, Mrs. WILLS, in her 21st year. This amiable young lady was the eldest daughter of Mrs. Reibey. In June, 1822, she was united to Mr. Thomas Wills, to whom she has bequeathed a pledge of the tenderest affection— a sweet little girl. Shortly prior to her confinement, about four months since, Mrs. Wills caught a violent cold, which fastened on the lungs, and originated a rapid consumption. We have not much occasion to say, that the deceased is deservedly lamented ; the many mental adornments, and attractive virtues, with which she was gifted, will long remain cherished in the bosom of her numerous relatives, and host of surviving friends. To delineate the grief of the astonished widower, and young father, is a task to which our pen is quite incompetent.

This sweet little babe only survived her lamented mother a very few months. Poor Mr. Wills is now in the new country, and has yet to learn the mournful tidings, that year open afresh the wound that was, through resignation to Heaven's will, beginning to close.
