| When Alexander William Holloway wed Lucrezia JONES born in Ballarat, Victoria, the certificate listed him as a 32 year old bachelor, occupation artillery gunner, address Middle Head. Their marriage took place on 13 July 1898 at the home of Thomas Jackson of Terry Street, St Peters, an inner suburb of Sydney, according to the rites of the Wesleyan Church, with the Rev Wm. Halse Rogers officiating. As a member of the Permanent Army, Alex was stationed at Victoria Barracks. The 1906 Census shows his wife Lucrezia's address as 67 Gipps Street, Paddington. Alex and Lucrezia had three daughters; Elsie Maud who died as a baby in 1898, Ruby 1901 who became Mrs Thomas KERL in 1918 and Ina who wed Harry LAKE, a well-known boxer. |
