'DEATH OF MRS ANN HAIN
Manaro Resident of 67 Years
The death of Mrs Ann Hain, widow of the late Mr Joseph Hain, took place at her residence, Raglan House, Cooma, early on Wednesday morning. Some two years since the deceased lady was incapacitated by a paralytic seizure which threatened serious results, but notwithstanding this she continued in full possession of her faculties up to the time of her death, passing her 85th year in March last. Her husband predeceased her 32 years ago, he being at the time of his death in his 53rd year. The late Mrs Hain, who was a daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Rostron, of Sydney, was born at Liverpool Plains, and came to Manaro when about 18 years of age; and just prior to her death was said then to be the oldest living resident of the district. Her husband was one of the pioneer selectors under the 1861 Land Act, and formerly owned the Kiaora estate, five miles from Cooma. The surviving member of her family are Messrs John Hain, (Messrs Hain and Searight) of Sydney; S.H. Hain, Manly; F. J. Hain, Bungarby; and H.R. Hain, Cooma; Mrs H.T.M. Rose, Magellan, Cooma; and Mrs Arthur McDonald, of Point Clare. Her nephews are: Messrs Albert, Charles, and George Hain, of Cooma. There are also 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchlldren.
The Lord Raglon hotel was built in the fifties by her father-in-law, Mr James Hain, who then held the licence.
The interment yesterday took place at the cemetery adjoining the old Anglican church on the Myalla road, there being a large gathering of residents from various parts of the district. A short service was conducted by the Rev Canon Hirst at St. Paul's Church, and who officiated at the graveside. The floral tributes were numerous, some beautiful wreaths being placed on the coffin. The pall bearers were Messrs Clifton and Padd Rose, Ronald and Ivan Hain'. Manaro Mercury, 22 July 1927.

(The obituary continues with a description of those who paid their respects at the funeral and of Ann's character).
