Death of Mr. John Hain News was received in Cooma on Tuesday of the death of Mr. John Hain, a relative of many families of the name in the Manaro district, and which occurred suddenly at a hospital at North Sydney. During the past two years the late, Mr. Hain, who reached his 65th year in June, has not enjoyed his former good health, and a few days since his condition causing anxiety he became a patient in a private bospilal, it being expected that he would shortly recover and return to his home in East Crescent street, North Sydney. The interment took place on Thursday at the South Head cemetery, amongst those present being Messrs. H. R. Hain a brother, H. A. Rose a nephew, and R. L. Sands a brother-in-law. The late Mr. Hain survived by a widow (formerly Miss Eleanor Sands), and a daughter, Mrs. Frederick Croaker of Quirindi; his brothers being Messrs. Harry and Frederick of Cooma, and Samson Hain of Sydney. His sisters are Mrs. H. T. Rose of Cooma, and Mrs. A. J. McDonald of Point Clare, Gosford. His cousins on the male side include Messrs. Charles and George Hain of Cooma, Thomas of Sydney, Edward of Lindfield, and Arthur of Mosman. Mr. Hain was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hain, and was born at Cooma, where he carried on business as a stock and station agent for many years, and prior to leaving for Sydney was in partnership with the late Mr. Charles Welch. He was for a time with the firm of Messrs. Harrison Jones and Devlin, and held an important position in the business of Cooper's Dip, and managed the Quambone Station prior to joining Mr. F. J. Searight in stock and station agency in Sydney, from which he retired a few years since. The relatives have not been informed of the immediate cause of death, which is believed to have resulted from a recent, injury to the head. Mr. Hain, about two months ago was on a visit to the Dindanga Station, Queensland, in which he held a large interest, and slept in a bed he usually occupied, and which collapsed. His injury consisted of a severe blow on the forehead, caused by the fall. On his return he visited Walhalla Station, Quirindi, and came on to Sydney. The effects of the injury being severe he entered a private hospital on Monday afternoon, and passed away on Tuesday morning. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends at the funeral yesterday, the floral tributes numbering about fifty.
