His headstone is in poor condition (broken off and barely legible @ 2021).

His five younger brothers formed a business partnership.
Rankin Brothers of Bombowlee also owned holdings at Ballandry Station,
Merool Creek (nr Whitton), Marrar, and Kyneton (Vic).
The town of Rankin Springs is named after them.
Originally 27,000 acres, Bombowlee Estate was sold in 1906
for closer settlement - 9,000 acres in subdivision for 33 farms.
