- Notes: FOORD—HARRIS The beautiful interior of All Saints' Church of England, Tumut, was further enhanced on Wednesday night, October 3rd, by the masses of beautiful blooms with which it was adorned for the marriage of Zillah Edna, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Harris, of Tumut, to Francis William, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Foord, of Bombowlee, Two arches of wisteria and greenery, with a huge wedding bell, formed the basis of the decorative scheme, whilst bowls of Spring flowers were placed on every available vantage point, the pews for the guests being distinguished by large white bows and posies of flowers. The ladies responsible for these artistic arrangements being Mrs. Don Burt, Misses G. and S. Denton, I. Foord and Doris Stokes. There were very few vacant seats as the bride walked up the aisle on her father's arm. Her trained frock of ivory crepe roamine gleamed through an embroidered oval veil, which caught with orange blossoms, fell in cascades to form a train lined with the faintest of pink tulle. Her exquisite sheaf of tinted arum lilies and peach blossoms (the handiwork of Miss G. Denton), completed a charming bridal ensemble. The only bridesmaid, Miss Jessie Harris, looked particularly nice in her frock of floral georgette in pink tonings, worn with a pink and silver headdress, made on medieval lines; her bouquet of sweet peas, stocks and anemones toned beautifully with her gown. Mr. Trevor Foord, nephew of the bridegroom, attended to the duties of bestman. Owing to the illness of the Rector, Rev. F. W. Rettie, the ceremony was performed by Rev. M. Battarbee, Rector of Adelong. Miss E. R. Bridle presided at the organ, rendering appropriate music before the arrival of the bridal party, Wagner's "Bridal March" as the bride walked up the aisle, "O Perfect Love''and selection from Beethoven during the signing of the register and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" as the happy couple left the church. The wedding breakfast was held at Fowler's, Wynyard Hotel, where a really excellent repast was served. About 60 -guests were received by Mrs. G. Harris, gowned in black crepe de chene, relieved with white, carrying a bouquet of red camellias, and Mrs. W. H. Foord, in navy morrocain, with a swagger coat,her bouquet of orange tinted ranunculi toned with the orange on her frock. The Gundagai Independent (NSW : 1928 - 1939)Monday 8 October 1934
